As our nation and communities take measures to ensure the safety and health of its citizen from the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, the leadership of Life Church desire that we do our necessary part in working alongside state and local authorities to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus. We understand the necessity of taking natural precautions to prevent both the spread of the virus and reduce increased tensions from the fear of the unknown.

In difficult times like these, we joyfully lean on the word of God, for therein we find strength for today and ever-increasing hope for tomorrow. Psalm 46:1-2 is there to remind us that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea”. Psalm 23 reminds us that because the Lord is our Shepherd, when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will not fear because the Lord is with us. Again, Psalm 112:8 shows us our faith position, telling us we will not be afraid of bad news because our hearts are fixed, trusting in the Lord, our hearts are established and secure, and we will not be moved with fear. Though the threat around us is real, we must not succumb to conversations and thoughts of fear. The torment of fear causes us to Forget the greatness of God, Envision the worse, Accept defeat before the fight, and Reject God’s way of deliverance. Instead, let’s train our hearts to respond in faith rather than rehearsing our fears. Take the word of God and begin to declare it over yourself, your home, your family, your business, even your church. Psalm 91 tells us that “no evil will befall us neither will any plague come near our dwelling”. Yet if we find ourselves infected with the virus, Romans 8:28 reminds us that “all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose”. With God’s perspective for our lives we have no reason to fear, but every reason to erupt with hope. No matter the outcome you are victorious because our God has given you the victory over sickness, fear, and most of all, we have victory over death.

As we encourage ourselves in the Lord, we will not take lightly the reality of this threat, thus, we must do our part to protect ourselves and those around us. Though we trust in the Lord our God for protection, He has given us sound wisdom is His word that is design to safeguard us. In Exodus 12, a devastating event was about to take place in Egypt. This event would be spiritually motivated, but its effects would physically echo in the homes of many, ultimately resulting in death. The Lord in His wisdom gave His people simple, clear instructions, when followed, would result in the protection and safety of their families. If God’s people failed to follow the instructions provided, the tragedy that befell Egypt would have befallen their homes, though they were God’s people. Our governing officials have given us specific instructions and we urge you to partner with these instructions to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus. Therefore, we encourage you to take the precautions that have been outlined to us by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other trusted health organizations. Ensure you are washing your hands properly, covering any coughs and sneezes, maintaining social distances, and limiting your social interaction.
